Trades:
Miami gives up 9 and their 2nd rounder to TB for the 4.
Houston gives up 8 and their 3rd to the Skins for 6.
Buffalo gives up 12 and a 4th to Atlanta for the 10.
1. Oakland: Calvin Johnson WR Ga. Tech. Kiffen's barely 30 and a first time head coach...do you really think he's talking the crypt keeper out of this pick?
2. Detroit: Alan Branch DT Michigan. Millen's gotten so much hell for taking "sexy" picks that he's forced into one that will improve his entire defense immediately.
3. Cleveland: Leon Hall CB Michigan. Quick!!! Name the Browns' starting CBs. Exactly.
4. Miami: Jamarcus Russell QB LSU. Miami needs a QB in a bad way. It's going to be a rough year in South Beach anyway, may as well throw the kid out their early to get some experience.
5. Arizona: Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin. No explanation needed.
6. Houston: Brady Quinn QB ND. The Texans have very quietly put a half way decent line together. Now they get the QB they thought Carr would be.
7. Minnesota: Gaines Adams DE Clemson. Had a beast of a combine and Minnesota needs someone to replace Udeze's career average of 2 sacks.
8. Washington: Jamaal Anderson DE Arkansas. Skins move down, pick up a third and still end up with arguably the most complete DE in the draft.
9. Tampa Bay: Amobi Okoye DT Louisville. Okoye becomes the youngest player ever drafted and immediately helps out a defensive line that is in transition.
10. Buffalo: Adrian Peterson RB OU. Buffalo got hosed on the McGahee deal and seriously overpaid for Dockery, but they get lucky that Peterson falls a little bit.
11. San Francisco: Adam Carriker DE Nebraska. They addressed the secondary in FA. Now they get a versatile end to hold up the run.
12. Atlanta: Laron Landry S LSU. This defense needs a lot of help. Landry should be a top 5 pick but for some reason he's not getting that consideration. Atlanta gets a steal.
13. St Louis: Paul Posluszny OLB PSU. The defense needs some major help, especially in the front 7. OLB is their most pressing need and Pos, though not flashy, plays great ball.
14. Carolina: Greg Olsen TE Miami. Another legitimate threat and a safety valve for Delhomme. If Jake can't get it done this year, he's on the way out this time next year.
15. Pittsburgh: Jarvis Moss DE Florida. Transition to the 4-3 makes this one tough, but they need a pass rusher more than anything.
16. Green Bay: Marshawn Lynch RB Cal. This is about as easy a pick as Thomas to the Cards.
17. Jacksonville: Reggie Nelson S Florida. Deon Grant's departure leaves them looking for help in the secondary. His strong proday gets him back into the middle of the first.
18. Cincinnati: Pat Willis LB Ole Miss. This team needs some major help on the defensive side of the ball and take a guy that i consider to be a top 5 defensive talent. He'll provide an instant impact at the position and leadership that this team needs desperately.
19. Tennessee: Darelle Revis CB Pitt. RainMan will either be in jail or cut...probably should be both. Revis needs a good proday or he'll slide, but right now he presents an answer for Fisher's secondary.
20. Giants: Levi Brown OT PSU. The running game will be significantly hurt by Tiki's retirement, but even worse is the lack of any reliable LT to open holes and to protect Eli's butt. Brown's slipping, but NY just has too much of a need.
21. Denver: Robert Meachem WR Tenn. Denver can really go BPA here, and there are increasing rumors that they'll move up in the draft. I don't see it yet. What I do see is a need to get young at the receiver position. Smith is a season or two away from retirement so Meachem won't be expected to produce immediately.
22. Dallas: Justin Blalock OG UT. Dallas appears to finally be focusing on the offensive line, but an underachieving guard/tackle isn't going to answer all their problems. Blalock is an in-state kid with a mean streak that will open up holes for Dallas for years.
23. Kansas City: Chris Houston CB Arkansas. Strong, fast, CB that we're high on and he'll be a starter very quickly. He's strong on the line and has the speed to cover 1-on-1...something the chiefs haven't had in a young player for some time.
24. New England(from Seattle): Dwayne Bowe WR LSU. His great offseason has sent him flying up draft boards. A big, physical receiver that uses his body well, he'll complement Welker's speed very well.
25. Jets: Charles Johnson DE UGA. They have needs in the secondary as well, but Johnson is brought in to hopefully replace the pass rush lost when they traded away Abraham.
26. Philadelphia: Sidney Rice WR Cocks. Reid likes to draft linemen and CBs in the first round, but he's never had a receiver talent like Rice fall to him. Rice won't start immediately, but he'll help alleviate the apparent loss of Stallworth.
27. New Orleans: Aaron Ross CB UT. If NO goes offense with this pick, the respect that Payton has earned from me will be lost. Ross has some question marks, but anytime you can add the Thorpe winner, you're feeling okay about your decision.
28. New England: Jon Beason LB Miami. Versatile linebacker that will give Belichick a ton of options and inject some youth into the NE LB corps.
29. Baltimore: Lawrence Timmons LB FSU. Thomas is gone and Lewis will be soon. For a team that relies on its linebackers, that's not a good thing. I don't think Timmons is that great a prospect, but he's hot at the moment. Don't be surprised to see him fall into the second round.
30. San Diego: Ted Ginn, Jr. KR/PR OSU. The Chargers have no receivers to speak of. They could use some help in the back 7, but don't see anyone here that's worth taking. Ginn will at least add some more excitement.
31. Chicago: Ben Grubbs G Auburn. The offensive line isn't getting any younger. They could go Stanton here, but I think they'll give Grossman one more year to get his act together.
32. Indianapolis: Daymeion Hughes CB Cal. Hughes put together a good year at Cal and lands with the world champs who will do everything they can to upgrade their defense.

This would be far more convincing if you had the draft order correct.
your comment would be far more appropriate if you'd paid attention to the little section at the top titled "trades"
Very interesting draft, I like the out of the box thinking but I don't think Detroit is taking branch at #2.
The JETS will not take a long shot like Johnson, They'll trade down or take Tank Tyler or Simmons mayeb a CB, but not a questionable pick like Johnson.
Do you think Millen is dumb enough to trade the #2 pick to the JETS for Vilma and Pennington?
The Jets are a hard one to figure out. They have an obvious need on defense at line and db, but aren't likely to find value at those positions based on where they are now. I'd be much more comfortable taking guys like Johnson, Ross, and Hughes in the second round. As for a trade with Detroit for 2, I think it would take a LOT more than Vilma, Pennington, and your first to move up to that spot.
